Massachusetts K-9 Helps Nab Convicted Rapist

A convicted rapist wanted by police for failing to register as a sex offender was arrested on Saturday with the help of a Massachusetts state police dog.

Officals learned that the individual was planning to meet his mother in Medford Saturday night. Troopers , along with a K-9 unit, established surveilance of the area.

At 6:57 pm troopers observed the individual get into his mothers car and immediately converged on the scene. The individual got out of the car and attempted to flee. The troopers ordered him to stop. When he did not K-9 "Drago" was deployed and apprehended him.

The convicted rapist was taken to a hospital for treatment of laceratons he suffered when "Drago" took him down."Drago" was not injured. 

Kentucky Sheriff's Deputy killed in high-speed chase

Pineville, Ky.

Two teenagers were charged with murder Thuresday after they led police on a high-speed chase on a wet road and hit a parked sheriff's cruiser, killing the deputy and the K9 inside,authorities said.

The driver left an Exxon station without paying for gas at 12:35 am, leading police on a 10 mile chase.

Two state troppers attempted to stop the speeding driver on the winding highway thru the rugged coal mining area of southeastern Kentucky.The teen's car veered over the center line of a two-lane road and rammed a cruiser waiting to join the pursuit, killing Deputy Pursifull,31, and his K9 partner King. Police estimated the car was going well over 100 mph. The teen's received non-lethal injuries

Pursifull and King made up the K9 unit at the 25 man sheriff's department in the county, with a population of 30,000 people."He was really dedicated to his job. One of the best officers I ever worked with. He was an excellent K9 officer. He and King were a team," said Sgt. Tom Busic.
